HEARING IS BELIEVING?

Am I the only one who heard Paul Page tell Melanie Troxel in the booth during second round at Seattle that he would be rooting for her at Indy in September because he would be a spectator there? Does that mean Marty Reid will be with Mike Dunn for all 3 days of coverage? (There is no IRL race on Labor Day weekend.)

By the way, Melanie added nothing to the coverage. I almost did not realize she was in the booth.

EVERYBODY’S A CRITIC

Hey!!!!! What do you mean...”Burnout" was forgettable...at least not to me. Me, my car and my good buddy Mr. Buehl were all in that production. You’re on thin ice, dude....

WRESTLING WITH THE ISSUE

My God, Burk, you can't forget how the movie "Burnout" set drag racing back on its heels. Isn't Dale Funk a buddy of yours?

Andreas Lampe

Actually, Jeff Burk’s high school wrestling coach was Dory Funk, Jr.

NITROUS PERFORMANCE HAS PEAKED

Jeff, all I can say is AMEN!!! It’s obvious that a nitrous car tuned to the max cannot compete with a blower car tuned to the max...two different technologies. The only thing they share in

common are the bodies.

As a degreed mechanical engineer with a decade of nitrous theory under my belt, I have seen the limits of nitrous in racing applications.  Without getting too technical, you were right, nitrous has just about peaked based on the combinations most racers use today.  You will see a blower car or a turbo car break the 5-second barrier first at this rate.

Simply put, I don’t see anything wrong with 2 separate classes: blower/turbo and nitrous.  It lets everybody run on a level playing field and lets every car run to its full potential.

Personally, I consider it an empty victory when my nitrous car beats a handicapped blower car... where is the sport in that???

Keep up the good work, Jeff.

FORCE LETTER #21

I work with a couple guys who are Mr. Baseball and Mr. NFL. They follow the 'Boys and Their Balls' sports religiously and nothing else is worth them wasting their time on. They know I follow drag racing (the diecast Jungle Jim FC and 1/6 scale blown fuel 426 Hemi in my cube must've tipped them off) but never had anything positive to say about the sport.

Imagine my surprise when each of them dropped by in recent weeks and said how they LOVED the show and watch it every week! They just can't believe John is for real and they think that Ashley is a babe. Now they understand that there's a lot more to drag racing than they thought and are fans. One of them (Mr. MLB) is even asking if I'll take him to the Gatornats next year so he can get autographs of the Force family and experience "CACK.”

Ah, a newbie fan is born and that's what John wants to see happen.  I just can't wait to see how high he jumps when Coil has John WHACK the throttle!!
