FUEL, FUEL, FUEL

NHRA, only concerned about "fuel" and no other classes? Is that the next level, a fuel-only show?

The POWERade guys can only do so much in a day to keep the fans in the stands! Pro Stock car, bike, comp, etc. are only fillers, aren't they?

FLOWER POWER

Jeff, sometimes I think your questioning is as hard-hitting as a Larry King interview, but you're close to RIGHT-ON (remember that phrase, flower children) on all these rants, err, queries!

JUST BEING THERE IS ITS OWN REWARD?

Regarding your "Just Wondering" comment re: the motivation of teams outside the new format after Indy... was it not worse in years gone by, when the deal was already closed with a runaway class winner? I think the motivation is the two to three million dollars that the teams sponsors are handing these teams in order for them to crisscross the country for most of the year and be able to do what 99 percent of us could only dream of being able to do.

Re: adding other pro classes...I have become a huge fan of Pro Mod. To me just seeing a race car where half the motor seems to rise up out of the hood, makes my skin tingle and my blood pressure rise. Also every where that I read about Pro Mod the name of Al Billes seems to come up and reminds me of when he was just a very young man and his grandma had just bought him his first motorhome/transporter because he was so serious about drag racing...inside info as my brother in law did work at Al's dad's engine Shop in Barrie, Ontario, and got to know Al at that time. But it is good to see a local guy make good and I just like these cars a lot.

Thanks for your time, from a huge drag racing fan, limited to viewing drag racing through the internet...

RUN PROS AT NIGHT, SPORTSMAN DAYTIME

Nothing in all of motor sports comes close to matching the shear awesome sight of a Top Fuel car, flames ten feet high, making a 330+ mph run at night. While the marketing folks at NHRA are trying to figure ways to get more folks in the stands they continue to miss their greatest opportunity:

Run them at night! During the hot summer days it only makes total sense to hold races at night, no one has to endure that heat of the day, the cars are a ton faster and quicker, the track surface is safer to compete on and the fans get see a great show. IHRA's Night Of Fire is proof that more fans will spend their hard earned money to watch a night race than a day race.

Given two choices: (1) To sit in the hot sun and endure a day race or, (2) Enjoy the cooler evening air and watch an event so awesome it leaves you with the feeling you really got your money’s worth.

So what's the issue? Is it that someone else (IHRA) had a far better idea and no one at NHRA wants to admit it? OK guys, park your egos and change the format, run the pros at night and the sportsman classes during the day. There's nothing to lose and everything to gain. My educated guess is that ticket sales will go through the roof and fans will be treated to the best evening of racing entertainment in all of motor sports.

Of course I really don't expect anyone at NHRA to take this seriously; rarely do they listen to their members or fans.
