BOO MELANIE AND MORGAN
Jeff: Amen. If Morgan Lucas and Melanie Troxel made that decision on their own, THEY need to go to Tony Stewart's woodshed. If Morgan made an ego decision, he needs a real lecture about business. Isn't he the Lucas of Lucas Oil? You would think that he absorbed enough business knowledge at the dinner table as a child to know what to do at the starting line with Melanie.
As you said, the other driver should not sit at the line staring at the green light. His crew chief should be able to handle it. And, maybe HE is to blame: Morgan's clutch could have been tight enough to blow off the tires and Mel is in the show.

NOT WRESTLING!
Very glad you addressed this diving issue. One thing I do find troubling is I've talked via email with Bob Wilber of CSK, and Rob Geiger of NHRA and both pretty much echoed each other when it comes to teams working for each other to attain a common goal. In this case it was the chase to the 8.
My issue is and will always be, what about the fans who pay a lot of money, especially at a Billy Meyer track, to see two cars run as fast as they can to the finish line. That is what they buy a ticket for... period. Nobody seems to care about how they are being in all honesty ripped off when a car sets at the line in order to lose on purpose. I will only put up with that so long, then I'll just jump on the hog and go riding instead of going to races or tuning in cause all it will be is a set up WWE wraslin’ match.

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY
I like what CSK did, I enjoyed watching it. It was good for NHRA: no lies, no excuses. It’s a team doing what they have to do. I would much rather see that then tire smoke. Again I thought it was one of the better parts of the race. Mr. Light didn't complain about what they did, they are a very good team. If you want to do something take care of all the tire smoking races.
Again, way to go CSK.

PHYSICIAN HEAL THYSELF
I find it highly ironic that NHRA, in its hypocritical self, now decides it wants to fine and deduct points from team drivers who throw a round when meeting a team mate. I mean I can't even count the endless times John Force/Tony Pedregon match ups where Tony had the car to beat and for some unknown reason (wink, wink), Tony's car goes up in smoke at the hit of the throttle.
So the message that NHRA is sending is they have been in the dark all along? I doubt it! If want to police this for the integrity of the sport, you should have been doing this years ago.

AT LEAST DO IT RIGHT...
The classic has to be when Larry Minor beat Gary Beck because he couldn't get on the brakes hard enough. He was so mad at himself that he wanted to take himself to the woodshed.

SENSE AND SENSABILITY
I wholeheartedly agree with you - I feel that G.L. made a mistake - team orders make good sense.

SPONSORS FIRST
It is so hard finding a sponsor or any money at all, that I say you need to do whatever it takes to keep the sponsor out front and happy. That's just a way of life. If it means throwing the race, do it. Just make it look good.
