STEAMED UP?

What killed CART (and) thus both IRL and Champ car, is they started racing around temp tracks 1.5 miles long instead of ovals and real road courses like Watkins Glen and Sears Point. No passing and no speed and only saw one corner if you went.

Actually a wall down the middle of the track protecting one car from the other and keeping them from getting a running start at the “far wall” is what would do it for track safety at a strip. It would end side by side racing, make replays much more boring, etc. The accident you keep referring to was at 120 mph before half-track. You lose steam in your debate.

Ban fuel, require suspension (that would stop vibration), do away with Funny Car as we know it. People go to the sedan races (NASCAR) for the wrecks. Drag racing for the speed. Take that away and IHRA wins. Bracket racing on 1/8th mile is fine. Professional should be 1/4.

Your argument is the tracks are short, old, and unsafe at these speeds, yet we have been running with rev limiters and such for years now. If you want to copy NASCAR have a set of rules for short tracks, make them run 1/8th and let the super tracks like Dallas that are long run the full 1/4 mile on 100%. You also only have half the seating.

Why has no one mentioned what punctured the tire on Eric’s car? Seems like that’s the whole thing right there. Someone getting hurt is always bad.

WHY NOT DUNN?

Just Wondering... Why is Mike Dunn no longer in the drivers seat? If Force says he was the "best-ever" and Dunn himself says on the broadcast he wants to drive, then what gives?

FORCE OUT AT SIN CITY

Regarding John Force's DNQ at Las Vegas: I believe his streak of qualifying at 395 consecutive races ended at Houston where he chose not to run. I love John Force and I think that if it wasn't for him (and Kenny Bernstein) there wouldn't be much interest in NHRA. I believe Force chose to end his streak.

IT’S EASY WHEN YOU KNOW THE ANSWERS

Everyone agrees that fuel cars must slow down. Easy. Nothing to it. Keep the 1/4-mile track we've all grown up with. Reduce blowers to 12:71, ONE mag and ONE fuel pump. Not a chance for cheaters and .... racing costs will drop somewhat. Very simple; very easy. Damn, I'm smart.
