ACCIDENTS CAN STILL HAPPEN

I’m extremely sorry to hear about Eric Medlen. Safety is always a concern in racing. I have been racing a number a years. I don't know about anyone else, but I work on my car, I put in untold amount of hours and money to go racing and that’s not counting the hours sitting in the staging lanes! To shorten the track from quarter mile and get even less time on the track! Even to watch eighth mile.

Slow the cars down if safety is being compromised. Who says eighth mile would be safer? Racers will do anything to win...you just start all over again to be faster than the next guy in the eighth mile and guess what? Sorry to say, accidents can happen in an eighth mile.

Thank you.

MEMORIES STAY

I do know how John Medlen feels. It’s been 30 years since Dodger Glenn was injured at Maple Grove and there is not a day goes by that I don’t think of him.

RISK IS PART OF THE SPORT

Should everything be done to improve safety? Yes, but should we change the sport because of a racing accident? No. Racers wherever they are assume the risks. Our sport is most likely the most violent of motor sport forms. Everyone that has ever being part of racing understands it's about one thing: going the fastest with what you've got.

What is the answer? No one knows because there isn't one answer, one solution to a problem.

TRY A SMALLER BLOWER

I have to agree with so many that say enough is enough. It's time to slow these monsters down some. Maybe going back to the small 8 or 10-71 blowers. They can run the same motor and all but can only use X size blower at X drive.

How about following the Nostalgia guys as well and limit tire size.

No one has the right answers, but there are some things we can do to keep our sport and sportsmen alive. We have to stop using our friends as test dummies.

To Eric: God speed buddy, we'll miss you.

EIGHTH MILE SOUNDS GOOD

Racing on the eighth mile for any nitro burning car would be fine as it could help with parts usage. The NHRA races are go or smoke anyway. Most races are over by eighth mile on Sunday.
