COMPACTED?

They say it's not the size of it, but what you can do with it. OK, get your minds out of the gutter.… I just received the first issue of IHRA's Drag Review Magazine. I am still waiting for the rest of the magazine to get here. For some reason someone at IHRA decided to put their bi-weekly drag racing magazine on a strict diet.  Last year the magazine measured 10X12 in.  This year’s is 8-1/2x11 in.  What gives-I don't get it. The membership price did not go up-but for some strange reason the magazine got smaller. I was always taught that BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER!! Whatever you do don't make it smaller. Drag Review Magazine is in my opinion equivalent to getting a program at a high school Friday night football game! I am almost afraid to know what size it will be in 2008. I hope no one at IHRA has connections with the Reader's Digest Company.

FORD IS NUMBER 3?

To steal a phrase...I was wondering howcum it took John Force over a year to get a real rear wheel drive Mustang body approved? Yet it seems like the GM and Mopar folks get new bodies approved overnight!

Think things will improve for John, now that Ray Alley isn't peeing in the cornflakes?

IHRA HAS A BETTER IDEA

Kudos to the IHRA for coming up with something that I believe will make their national events even more exciting. The “last man standing” idea will truly make each of the three days a stand-alone good value for the fan. I can hardly wait for the race here in Tulsa, seeing the property overloaded with race haulers and traffic backed up to the highway will be a welcome sight that has not been around for over 20 years. I like this idea about 200 percent more than the NHRA chase idea.

SECOND THAT MOTION

I think the IHRA's idea with the “Last Man Standing” program is right on.  At least half the time I'm only able to attend one or two days of a three-day event. This typically winds up being Saturday or Friday and Saturday. Having some sort of "closure" or gratification inside one day is an outstanding idea to have the one-day fan get some sense of witnessing a

front-to-back event.

Thumbs up to the IHRA for concentrating on the fans.

WHAT HAPPENED TO EMAX?

IHRA must have lost the eMax sponsorship of their national event series. This was supposed to be the 2nd year of a 3-year contract.  Take a look at the IHRA website. The national events are called Nitro Jam events and they have a new logo without eMax. The press release for the national series' new "last man standing" format call the national events "IHRA Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing Series."

As of February 7, 2007, eMax stock was worth .032 per share so that might have something to do with their absence from IHRA.
