INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW
What's the deal with Pro Mod for 2008?
Are we going to see this exciting class, or be forced to watch the stupid motorcycles and the boring Pro Stocks forever?
NHRA isn't very progressive are they? And they wonder why NASCAR makes SO much money. Jeez.

TWO-LANE CIRCUS?
Bravo!!! before I even read this article, my comments as a racer and spectator, to a fellow sportsman and competitor were NHRA is the Ringling Brothers and no need to say who is Barnum or Bailey... This is a traveling show of carnies (professionals) and the NHRA should be paying the performers instead of taking the funds of sponsorship for their "own" gain.
Just returned from Moroso Motorsports Park in west Palm Beach, Florida, for the Citrus Nationals. Stands were full, racers happy with or without sponsorship and no or limited TV coverage... Boy... Did I feel at home.
Keep up the honesty.

CHASING THE MONEY
Burk, you mossback! Get in line with the times. It's about entertainment, the show, the TV big eye in the sky (and its money), the sponsors - not about winning the most or losing to the best. Yeah, you're out on your own limb; with a chainsaw chewing the side closest to the trunk. And there are some of us still with you.
I thought drag racing would be the last motorsport to accept the bogusness of a "Chase" format. Even the "run what ya brung" ADRL has rolled over. I can almost forgive NASCAR for its wholehearted embrace of the Chase. (Jeff Gordon probably can't - he'd be shining his latest championship trophy if not for it - but then the money is still good.) How else were they going to keep today's "short attention span theatre" fan interested through the Batann march of races/events through their stock car season? (Hint: It's not working.)
But drag racing? What is the basic hook that got us all in the first place? You're either The Quick or The Trailered - no BS, no crying. Get faster, or go home: for a full season. Who could have thought the sport could whore itself out to this extent? Some would argue it has to do so to survive in the "majors" of motorsports these days. Well, perhaps that's a club not worth belonging to.
