Ward then stopped Rini’s Dodge Stratus in the semifinals to advance while Williams, driving the only Ford product in the race, had to try to stop Tutterow. It was “game over” at the start, however, as Tutterow nailed the tree with his best light of the evening and sped to a 4.166 win over William’s 4.370.
Tutterow was on a roll and wouldn’t be denied in the finals as he jumped out with a .050 advantage at the start and rolled to a 4.162 win at 177.72 mph over Ward’s slowing 4.479 at 131.17.
