Mike Grekul could only muster a 6.824 in the Plueger & Gyger Mustang as Grekul competed in only his second funny car field.

John Powers III missed the field in his Hemi-powered ’77 Camaro and will reportedly switch fiberglass bodies at mid-season to a Johnny Loper tribute Plymouth Arrow. Powers is also looking at a second nitro car to be driven by Funny Car legend Dale Pulde in a re-creation of his “War Eagle” Firebird for a mid-year introduction.

Dale Pulde was the Grand Marshal of the 27th running of Sacramento Raceway’s Funny Car Fever with longtime partner Valerie Harrell.

To close out the show the “Nitehawk” and “Warhawk” jet funny cars squared off in exhibition passes.
