Dutch Classic at Maple Grove

It’s a Classic

The leaves are turning beautiful colors in Pennsylvania and what better time to get out and enjoy the foliage than at the annual Dutch Classic at Maple Grove Raceway.

Unfortunately, the weather proved to be a factor in the outcome, washing out the Saturday racing and delaying the Sunday final rounds until Monday morning, Oct. 27. By the final rounds, the temperature was 52 degrees, with relative humidity at 46 percent.

Jake Barbato’s Camaro took the Super Gas win with a 9.963/148.87 when Jim Hoffman turned on the red light.

In the Super Street final, Jay Neville got off the line first, but Michael Sawyer caught him down the track. Neville sped up just a bit too much trying to catch him and broke out with a 10.886 on the 10.90 index. Sawyer took the win with a 10.918 at 128.08 mph.

David Ficacci’S A/SA Camaro took the Stock Eliminator win with a 10.208/126.97 run on a 10.17 dial. Opponent Tim Boudreau took a small nap on the line with a .098 RT and then ran a hard-charging 10.434 on his 10.43 dial.

Joey Cole’s Monte Carlo made it to the Super Stock final, but couldn’t overcome the starting line advantage of Ed Newton’s Monza. Cole dialed a 10.35 for his GT/GA and ran 10.399/125.51 with a .078 reaction time. Newton’s SS/AX ran 9.034/150.77 on a 9.02 dial, but the .042 RT made all the difference.
