There are great races and there are GREAT races. The ADRL World Finals at the Texas Motorplex falls under the latter GREAT category. Drag racing fans who came looking for record performances, ultra-close racing, crash and burns, and every other thing they might want from a drag race got a full share of that and more at this event.

The weather was near perfect and the all-concrete Motorplex track lived up to its well-deserved reputation as the standard against which all others are measured. Just in case this all sounds too good, even for the fabled Motorplex, consider that this race delivered two Pro Extreme drivers, Jason Scruggs and Travis Swearingen, with ET’s in the 3.70-range and two more, Scott Cannon and Josh Hernandez, in the 3.80’s. Scruggs and Scranton cracked the 200-mph mark and Cannon and Hernandez ran 199+. And the performance binge didn’t stop with the Pro Extreme class.

In Pro Nitrous there were no fewer than four qualifiers in the three-second zone led by Shannon Jenkins’ 3.930/191.02 effort.
