Mean Street Eliminator may be one of the NMCA’s entry-level categories, but Skip Baskin’s 364-inch ‘67 Nova produced high-dollar thrills.

Route 66 fans enjoyed the “Old School Reunion” of three Chi-Town street-legal racing pioneers including Chuck Samuel’s return to Chevy racing with his purple Super Street 10.5W small block Camaro which set top speed with a 7.12/210.44 blast, the ageless small block 10.5W ‘69 Camaro of Spiro Pappas which went two rounds with a best of 7.33/201, and the Xtreme Street big block ‘69 Chevelle of Jeff D’Agostino and Nick Scavo which went to the third round with 8.40/168 power. All this at a track built by Steve Spiess!

Frank Valencia showed the crowd how to cut “double-oh” bulbs with a blown ‘68 C20 pickup even while wadding up the tires like a fuel car!
