Donovan got past Mike Millsap and Rick Huckabee to get to the finals. Both Donovan and Coker had made 4.80-passes all night, but Coker turned on the red light in the final, giving the A Field win to the only Oklahoman in the bunch.

Roy Rogers from Corpus Christi, TX, was the first of the B Field with a 5.31 at 129 mph. He got to his first final round, but got a little too anxious and turned on the red light.

Don Scott from Garland, also went red in the final against Rogers, but got the win in his first final round.
