This gets our vote for the most impressive paint job. “Chrom und Flammen” for sure! Joey Sternotti Jr. qualified number 2 with a 6.384/215.62. In the semi final against Stordeur, Sternotti kept the front wheel in the air until about the 1,000-ft mark.

Not to be outdone, Tommy Grimes Jr. (near lane) rode on the back tire for the first half of the track and then pulled away from Sternotti for the win. Sternotti was late off the line with a .181 reaction time, and had problems late in the run, turning in a 7.541 at 125.68 mph.

Tommy Grimes (above left) had a great show at Bristol. He was number one qualifier at 6.314/221.02. He then ran 6.425/221.16 in the semis and 6.384/215.89 in the final round.
