lassic British tin propelled Neil Grant to back-to-back trophies in Super Street competition after Ian Brown broke out in the Summernationals final, adding to his victory at the Easter meeting. Grant’s Ford Zephyr, motivated by a rat motor on alcohol, is looking to continue the Bristol Doorslammers’ domination of the 10.90 class following on from brother John’s series win in 2005 and Bob Lees’ championship in 2006.

'In a battle of the veterans, Steve Johnson overcame Barry Giles in Super Pro ET, the fastest of the DYO brackets. The Giles and Hartley dragster recorded a none too shabby 7.738 on a 7.73 dial-in with a 0.037 RT, but Johnson’s 0.0001 RT when coupled with a 7.335 on a 7.30 dial-in put the nose of the Motor Mouse dragster two and a half feet ahead at the finish line.
Keith Herbert’s lump of Mopar heavy metal secured his first trophy in the ultra competitive Pro ET bracket. Having qualified number one with a +0.05 11.50 on Saturday afternoon, Herbert’s 440ci Sport Fury rumbled through the five rounds of eliminations consistently close to his mid-eleven second dial-in and taking out Neil Hunter in his Capri in the final round.
Vintage tin was also successful in Sportsman ET with second generation racer Lee Huxley taking the event win in the
Huxley family’s ultra straight Mustang. Team Can Do did when opponent Lee Hollis broke out in his Truckasaurus Dodge Ram. Huxley took yet another trophy back to the trophy cabinet in Worcester, which must be close to collapsing under the weight of Lee and father Brian’s pot haul with their Top Banana ‘32 Roadster and Mustang over the years.
