UEM Top Fuel Bike
At the end of a season that at best could be called mixed, 2005 Series champion Ian King seemed to be someway back on track with mid six second passes replacing the bent conrods and smashed pistons that had blighted the previous two meetings and must have dented the content of someone’s pocketbook. King not only managed to defeat the new Champion in the first round of eliminations with a 6.432 to 6.558, but he got the closest to defeating Koedam and was side by side with him to 1000 feet on a 6.519 (to Koedam’s winning 6.342) effort.
Nitro Funny Car
Although relegated to exhibition status over the past two seasons, the Nitro Funny Cars were racing for respectability and the possibility of a UK National Championship for 2007 over the course of the weekend. The Showtime Mustang of John Spuffard and Bob Jarrett made a bold statement with three five second passes over the weekend and a new PB 5.281 on a very early shut off pass to record the quickest fuel funny car pass outside of North America.
