The Nitro Funny Car finalists, Scott Kalitta and Gary Densham, did not make the call for the final as both drivers left Norwalk Raceway Park to keep previous commitments. Kalitta’s new Toyota sustained some damage when he ran off the end of the track. The car was scheduled for a special paint job by Chip Foose to be finished in time to debut at the U.S. Nationals, leaving little spare time.
