It’s a bit of a slow day today, with cars going through tech. Some inspections are taking up to three hours. Everyone is anxious to get going. We have some photos for you.

This “Silver Bullet” belongs to Don Bales from Connorsville , Indiana. The new Cuda SS/AH took two years to build because of a ton of custom fabrication (note handmade fuel tank out of one piece of metal). It’s Don’s first national event with this car.

Notice: Objects are not always as close as they appear. That’s Jim Pancake keeping out of Bales’s way.

As usual at the U.S. Nationals Monday was parking day or as I like to call it “Hell Day”. We waited in line all day and finally got parked about 3:00 PM on Monday. This year they have moved the SS/AH cars from their usual spot in the back right corner of the Sportsman pit an area which is fairly flat to area just off of the paved pit road near the stands. They used to park the Pro Stock bikes in this spot and it is fairly hilly and slopes downhill towards the stream that runs through the pits. Tech and prep for the first laps on Wednesday are on everyone’s mind now.
