This 1964 Comet is restored back to stock specs, and is a highlight of Kayo Erwin’s holdings. While its past has not been traced, it has been theorized that this was one of several cars that Sox & Martin had during their single year with Mercury.
Mopars were ably represented by two of Warner’s most famous cars, the GT-1 Sox & Martin Hemicuda (the only Hemi car built by that firm that year for their own use which had a VIN tag in 1970 – all others were constructed from body-in-white or non-Hemi versions), and Dick Landy’s 1971 Dodge Challenger. There were several other Hemi Mopars on hand as well, including a 1967 factory race version.
![]() Also part of the Dick Harrell display was the original 1969 Camaro, with fresh paint but no lettering yet. Dale Pulde, Don Hardy, and others were on hand for its public debut. Next to it is the first 2002 Dick Harrell Camaro done by GMMG, complete with 427-inch late-model power; Valerie Harrell owns this example. Also shown are Harry and Shirley Kelwei, who bought a 427 Nova identical to this model from Dick new back in 1968. This turn-key drag Nova is a tribute to the Harrell memory. |

![]() Among the other musclecars present was this monster, a Buick GSX converted to Phase III by Motion Performance in Long Island, NY. How rare is the car (now owned by Mark Reeves of Georgia)? Motion (pf Baldwin-Motion fame) converted just one GSX, this one. |
![]() Scott Abbott, who runs the Detroit Horsepower website, drove his “rat rod” C/Gas straight-front axle tribute Chevy II from home to the event –- he lives TWO hours away! |
![]() Just in case anybody got any wise ideas about driving out with a $500,000-plus machine, the Chattanooga Police Department had this late-model Mustang on display…and were ready to use it! The department played videos and talked with interested attendees about their race program. |
Plans for the 2007 version are still being finalized, although it will likely again be in mid-October at Chattanooga. Cars came in from as far as Canada and Colorado this year, and spectators flew or drove in from other distances to be part of the 2006 version.
The Forge Show is an invitational event, with the promoters selecting the best and most interesting cars for appearances each year.
