ground up usually takes a couple of months of fabrication work, four to eight weeks in the paint shop (depending on how elaborate the finished job will be), and up to two weeks for final assembly. “Everything is custom made,” he said. “We don’t cookie cut anything; we custom build every car.”

One of the most important steps along the way is the personal tailoring of such things as pedals, chute levers, steering wheel, and seat placement to each new owner. “Everybody gets custom fitted,” Livingston stressed. He also said customer support occupies most of his time during the racing season. “When you get a new car from me you don’t only get a nice car, you get my services, too. I want my stuff to work well and win.”

Stringer hopes to return to the winner’s circle soon, too. So far, he’s run a best time of 4.44 seconds at 158 mph during testing of the new car at London Dragway, his home track in Kentucky. With the trackside help of wife Shawna and 10-year-old son Caleb, he plans to better that mark, though, at various Top Sportsman, Quick 8, and APMA events this season.

“We’re looking forward to a good year,” he said. “This is a good start, but I know there’s a lot more in this car once we get it figured out.”
