Later in the month is the 33rd annual Nitro Night of Fire being held at Sacramento Raceway. This event is sort-of a Heritage event with only Funny Car being a points earning class. More friends of this column, Lisa and Lee Paul Jennings, are putting this event on. Attend!

The same weekend as Sacto is the NostalgiaFest presented by RM Distributing being held at Cordova Dragway Park. Cordova is shaping up to be a biggie with some major Nitro bragging rights going on at the inner-tube message sites. Also of note is our buddy Berserko Bob manning the mike and saying stupid stuff all weekend. We wish it no other way.

June is a mother of a month for Nostalgia happenings. She’s all up for having some really cool events. I’d be remiss if I failed to mention the Gasser Reunion at Thompson Raceway Park and the Blast From the Past at Bristol Dragway. Check your local listings for air time!

Okay, time for the self-serving part of the bit. You know, it’s all about me. And this time it’s about me going to Bowling Green!

Hey! I get to go this year and drive George Doty’s Hot Wheels/Cam2 “Crazy Horse” Mustang. George, along with his partner Sonny Diaz, got together with Danny Pisano and put something together to run Bowling Green to help promote Doty’s recent Cam2 sponsorship and announce the long-awaited Hot Wheels Drag Strip Demons releases that are now available! That’s right, you can hit Target, Walmart or Toys-R-Us and get models of the “Crazy Horse” and the Pisano & Matsubara Funny Cars. There are other Funny Cars that have been available for some time, but they’re either cars from yesteryear or figments of some designer's imagination.

I’m totally humbled to be able to actually hold a Hot Wheel and read my name on the door. Even though I need a microscope to do it! Little side note on this, we thought that we would be able to offer models for sale on our website. Turns out, as typical drag racers, we neglected to read the fine print. We currently have our crack legal staff working on this so that we will be able to offer the models for purchase on our website. Until then, I’ll see you all in line at Target!
