Just Wondering … Why didn’t the IHRA react to their Pro Mod and Pro Stock racers moving en mass to the ADRL? Could it be that IHRA Pres Aaron Polburn D.G.A.S.?
Just Wondering … When the top-rated drag racing show in terms of spectator draw and ratings on any network is probably the made-for-TV, absolutely-not-a-real-drag-race PINKS, is there any reason to broadcast real drag racing on network or cable TV?
Just Wondering … What makes drag racing’s sanctioning bodies believe that the ticket-buying public will keep coming to drag racing when most of the real bankable “stars” of the sport are all 60 years of age or older.
Just Wondering … Am I the only one who thinks “bean counters” are folks who are missing the “common sense” gene in their DNA?
Just Wondering … Will those fans who write here to say they are boycotting the NHRA as long as Top Fuel and Funny Cars are racing on 1,000-foot tracks start going to nostalgia races where AA/FC’s and AA/FD nitroburners that race a full quarter mile are the headliners?
Just Wondering … After watching the current IHRA racing program wither on the vine from lack of cars, fans and sponsors, how long will it take for the NHRA to decide to make changes in their program?
Just Wondering … Will any car manufacturer be willing to give cars away to sanctioning bodies in the future just for being the “official” brand?
Just Wondering … With few new sponsors coming into NHRA drag racing and it not really getting cheaper to race, how can mostly self-funded teams like those of Del Cox Jr., Bruce Litton, Joe Hartley and Terry Haddock keep competing? I expect the pro field in NHRA competition to really thin out after the U.S. Nationals.
Just Wondering … How do the Baders at Norwalk’s Summit Motorsports Park manage to sell their customers a pound of ice cream for a buck while it costs those same customers five bucks or more for a large Coke® at other national event tracks.
Just Wondering … Why do those NHRA announcers keep prattling on about the big crowds at their races and then the ESPN2 crew has a camera pan down the track revealing many empty seats? Do they believe the viewers are blind and well as stupid?
Just Wondering … When was the last time you went to an NHRA or IHRA drag race where there were primo AA/FC’s competing based in states other than California, Indiana, or Michigan? Or competitive all-Chevy nitro flops or 15 competitive Funny Cars trying for eight spots? Not at an NHRA or IHRA race during the last three decades! You can see that this weekend at Cordova Dragway Park for just a $25 Saturday ticket.
Just Wondering … Why NHRA’s national event tracks spend money on luxury boxes and more GA grandstands when in most (if not all) cases they can’t sell the seating they have? Instead, why not upgrade the infrastructure of the tracks and give the majority of their ticket buyers a more pleasant experience?
Just Wondering … Am I the only one who hates this? First, I hate being forced to stand in one line to buy a bunch of food tickets and then in another to redeem them for my food. Second, I always end up with extra tickets that aren’t enough to buy anything and go away
feeling ripped off.
Just Wondering … What happened to the NHRA Pro Mod teams? I never thought they would come up short of cars in that series. Maybe they ought to go to an eight-car qualified field there and put some excitement back in that program. Don’t fall victim to the same BS that has turned NHRA nitro qualifying into a boring, tired joke, guys. ![]()
