After a ten-year absence, Rachelle Splatt will make her return to Australian Top Fuel racing at the 400 Thunder event at Sydney Dragway on Jan. 21.
The 47-year-old mother of five will return with OVO Mobile as the primary sponsor of her dragster. The USA’s Ron Douglas, formerly crew chief for Courtney Force and Bob Vandergriff Racing, will be crew chief for Splatt.
Cracking the 300-mph barrier in Australia is one motivating factor.
“Because I was the first woman in the world to run 300, I can’t say that I’ve done it in Australia, which has bugged me,” Splatt said. “The 300-mph target is not the sole goal, but to run 300 in Australia is definitely one thing I want to get out of the way.” [01/10/17]
