If you’ve never seen it you owe it to yourself to get to historic Byron Dragway in northwestern Illinois for the annual Wheelstander Nationals. It features purpose-built and real drag cars racing for the bragging rights as the World’s best wheelstand.
This event is on the Agent’s recommended must-see list. The race is a two-day affair with qualifying on Saturday, Oct. 6, and the race on Sunday. [10/2/2012]
For years there have been big winter bracket races in Florida before and after the Christmas holidays. The tracks at West Palm Beach and Bradenton have had races for decades. Now a couple of racers, Mitch Clary and Mike Fuqua, and the owners of the drag strip in Immokalee, Fla., have a race scheduled for the weekend of November 7-10 with four days of racing.
Dragsters will run together and door cars will run separately until the final eight places on the ladder. Three major events will be run with the winners receiving $12,500, $7,500 and $5,000. Also on the schedule are a Dragster Shootout and a Junior Dragster competition. For more info call the track at 239-657-5954. (End of free ad.) [10/2/2012]
