Matusek’s muscle Mustang gets new Roush power for Gateway

Steve Matusek, who has the only NHRA Pro Mod that has an engine remotely resembling what comes with the cars from the factory, is going to the St. Louis national event Sept. 28-30 with a fresh engine from Roush Yates.

Matusek’s Mustang uses a 500-inch, turbocharged Ford Mod Motor for power. He torched a head on the engine at Indy and damaged the motor enough that it required a new bullet. The new engine has some improvements and the engine builders at Roush Yates also added a half-point of compression over the last engine. Matusek has gone 6.0/249+ and with the new engine could join the 250-mph Pro Mod club at St. Louis. [9/20/2012]
