Drag racing legend Shirley Muldowney and her 1977 NHRA Championship winning Top Fuel Dragster are together again for 13th annual Cruisin’ For A Cure car show this Saturday, Sept. 22, at the OC Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., in the Prolong pavilion where Prolong will be offering complimentary photos of show attendees with Shirley.
Muldowney is the first woman in any fuel class to win an NHRA Pro Winston World Championship in the Top Fuel Division, which she won again in 1980 and 1982. Prolong sponsors Muldowney’s ’77 Ron Attebury-chassied Top Fuel Dragster, which has been restored by owners Dave and Twila Mandella.
As a sponsor of the Cruisin’ For A Cure event, Prolong will display its line of automotive lubricants and fuel additives in their booth, including the new 70W and 50W Nitro Racing Oil designed to deliver extra protection and performance in alcohol- or nitromethane-fueled race engines.
Cruisin’ For A Cure is a one-day charity custom/classic car show with more than 3,400 vehicles on display, over 200 vendors and exhibitors, and a 1.5-mile cruise route raising money in support of the City of Hope, a leading research, treatment and education center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

Youngblood to draw for a cureFamed hot rod artist Kenny Youngblood will once again be a featured guest at this weekend’s 13th Annual Cruisin’ For A Cure Car Show, courtesy of Firestone Complete Auto Care.
Youngblood gives attendees the opportunity to pick one of his original car drawings, which he then personalizes and hand embellishes into a unique souvenir of the event.
The Firestone display (located near the main stage) will also feature John and Cynthia Ewald’s collection of real Indy Cars (that visitors get to climb into) as well as two beautifully restored “slingshot” Top Fuel Dragsters (that get “fired up” throughout the day). [9/18/2012]
