Motorcraft to coordinate NHRA and NASCAR paint schemes

For the first time in 20 years Motorcraft will unite its NHRA Full Throttle Series Drag Racing and NASCAR Sprint Cup programs with one uniform paint scheme.

Both the No. 21 Ford Fusion owned by Wood Brothers Racing and the Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car driven and owned by Bob Tasca III will compete in the striking red and white “Motorcraft Legacy” paint scheme that is a modern twist on and tribute to the one the Wood family conceived and campaigned beginning in 1965, and brought back in 2011.

Next year’s design also incorporates Ford brands Quick Lane and FordParts.com, as it has in the past.

The last time the NHRA and NASCAR entries matched was in 1993, with Bob Glidden’s Pro Stock entry and Bud Moore Racing’s No. 15 NASCAR Cup Ford driven by Geoff Bodine. [10/30/2012]

Ford Racing releases twin turbo Cobra Jet concept

The SEMA Show started today in Las Vegas and that means new products will be announced throughout the week. One exciting announcement already is that Ford is coming out with the Cobra Jet Twin Turbo concept.

EcoBoost is on the side of the new NASCAR Ford Fusions and it is coming to Mustangs in 2015. While there isn’t any official talk of making this a production vehicle, the Agent is happy that Ford is bringing in the racing community. (photo courtesy Ford Motor Co.) [10/30/2012]

CTS releases ‘Quarter Mile’ song to benefit BRAKES organization

The award-winning rock band CTS (Consider The Source) has joined forces with CD Baby, the world’s largest digital distributor of independent music, to benefit B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible, Keep Everyone Safe) founded by Top Fuel racer Doug Herbert. Their goal is to generate additional funding to take B.R.A.K.E.S. life-saving student driving education programs nationwide.

CTS recently issued a new single recording of their popular drag racing song, “Quarter Mile,” on CD Baby and other music download services, with proceeds dedicated to the B.R.A.K.E.S. Safe Driving Programs for teenage drivers.

“The song ‘Quarter Mile,’ was inspired by a drag racing friend of mine who said she lived her life a quarter mile at a time. I was so impressed by all the obstacles she’d overcome to pursue her racing passion, I had to write a song comparing her life’s journey to achieving any dream we have,” stated Jeff Senour, founder of CTS.

“We are excited about this unique fundraising effort with CD Baby to benefit B.R.A.K.E.S., our goal is to generate additional funding so the program can be offered nationwide,” said Senour.

The new “Quarter Mile” music download is available on CTSmusic.com, CD Baby, ITunes, and Amazon. [10/30/2012]
