Paul Lee to drive Densham FC at Vegas and Pomona

McLeod Racing will team up with Funny Car driver/owner Gary Densham for the last two races of the NHRA season with veteran driver and McLeod President Paul Lee at the wheel.

McLeod Racing will be the major sponsor for Gary Densham Motorsports at both the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas and the season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona.

"I'm excited to get back out to the track and hop in Gary's car for these last two races and, more importantly, proud to be associated with a great team,” said Lee. “I'm happy that Gary let me have the ‘keys’ to his awesome hot rod! Summit PR rep, Jon Knapp, dies

Longtime public relations representative Jon Knapp has been fighting a very aggressive form of cancer for many months. Last night, Oct. 22, at about 9:30 p.m., he lost his battle.

The owner of J2Racing with his wife, Joanne, Knapp most recently did PR for Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock drivers Jason Line and Greg Anderson.

This is very sad news for those of us in racing journalism. Jon was a terrific PR person who will be sorely missed by all. Funeral arrangements are pending. [10/23/2012]

Hoover tops Pro Mods at Rockingham Super Chevy Show

Ed Hoover, who won the first Pro Modified race ever contested nationally, got another major win Sunday, Oct. 21, when he drove his supercharged 1968 Chevrolet Camaro to victory in the featured event in the annual Super Chevy Show at Rockingham Dragway.

The veteran qualified No. 1 on the eighth-mile course at 3.895 seconds, then beat John Camp, Ernie Everett, former national touring pro Steve Vick and Travis Harvey to win the Beal Racing Engines Pro Mod Shootout, part of the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod Series.
