Pro Mods and Super Chevy Show this weekend at the Rock

The Super Chevy Show presented by Richmond County Tourism makes its annual return to Steve Earwood’s Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina this weekend.

Normally that info isn’t worthy of a 1320 note but this all things Chevrolet (from show cars to a swap meet) will feature the Extreme Outlaw Pro Modified series competing in the Beal Racing Engines Pro Mod Shootout. According to Rockingham’s Steve Earwood, they have 26 cars entered already for an eight-car field which means qualifying by itself will be a war.

Among the racers expected to compete are original Pro Mod racers Charles Carpenter (shown); 1995 IHRA Pro Mod champion Tommy Mauney; Ed Hoover, winner of the first IHRA Pro Mod race ever contested; and former IHRA hitter Steve Vick.

So many Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod teams have already entered that promoter Steve Earwood has added a consolation race for those who don’t make the eight-car field. [10/18/2012]
