New look for Berner’s Summit-backed Pro Stock

Pete Berner’s Pontiac GXP has a new look for the new season. Painted by SD Enterprises, the car features lightning strikes from the top and crushed pavement along the bottom. The team plans to run both the 2010 ADRL and new Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association series.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to fly Summit colors,” Berner said, “and we are certainly looking forward to debuting our new look. Greg [Ozubko] did a fantastic job with the design and really built exactly what we’re looking for. We wanted to be out of the box and have a design that most wouldn’t expect on a Pro Stock car…..”

Berner is planning to start testing soon, but the car won’t be revealed in front of fans until February 26-28 at the Summit AutoRama in Detroit, Mich. The first ADRL race will be March 19-20 at Houston with the MMPSA race the same date at Rockingham. The Agent’s bet is that Berner will be at the Rock. [2/8/2010]

Look for two shades of Gray at Pomona

Second-generation racer Shane Gray earned his Pro Stock license during the Pro Stock Showdown at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With the ink still wet on his license, Gray will make his debut at the 50th annual NHRA Winternationals at Pomona. He will join his dad, veteran driver Johnny Gray, in a second Gray Motorsports Pontiac GXP.

“Getting in my car for the first time felt good,” said Gray. “Making runs was a little scary the first day; I was really nervous and actually did a terrible job. But the second day was much better. We made three good runs and everything worked out well. So hopefully we should be okay by the time we get to Pomona.” [2/8/2010]
