Youngblood draws Toyotas

Attendees at the up-coming ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals, will have the opportunity to visit TOYOTA Racing’s fan display, where they can get a personalized, “Blood Did It” CARicature of their favorite TOYOTA entry executed by racing artist Kenny Youngblood.

“Following an appearance for Firestone at the Long Beach Grand Prix, I was contacted by TOYOTA, who brought me onboard last year to be a part of their ‘Pit Pass’ display at NASCAR events,” Youngblood said. “Coming from drag racing, I’m really looking forward to being at selected NHRA events this season and having the opportunity to invite fans to stop by and allow me to personalize and hand-color the artwork design of their choice; compliments of TOYOTA.”

The TOYOTA NHRA Fan Display will include being able to get up-close and personal with Cruz Pedregon’s TOYOTA funny car, interactive games and Kenny giving away his “Blood Did It” artwork. The featured TOYOTA drivers include Cruz, Jeff Arend, Jim Head, Del Worsham and Larry Dixon.

The TOYOTA display and Youngblood are also scheduled to be at the NHRA O’Reilly Springnationals (Houston, TX), the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals (Indianapolis, IN), the Carolina Nationals (Concord, NC) the ACDelco nationals (Las Vegas, NV) and the Auto Club Finals (Pomona, CA). [2/25/09]

One more test session before the March Meet

There’s another weekend of testing as a warm-up to the 51st March meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. The two-day test sessions are rapidly filling up, according toFamoso track manager Blake Bowser who said, “We’ll have nitro cars running every couple of hours, probably starting around 11:30AM, but this is still a two-day test with an $80 entry fee per car for the weekend. Gates will open at 8 AM on both days, with cars going down the track at 9, but we’ll be closing at 5PM.”

Last weekend nitro veteran Jim Murphy (shown) brought out his beautiful new Top Fueler to work on 330 foot passes and unfortunately the second day of testing was cancelled because of rain.
