Coby Rabon and his turbocharged Mustang made two laps during testing for this weekend’s Street Car Super Nationals held at the Strip at Las Vegas that will easily stand as the unofficial record for the class. The Carolinian, fresh off a victory at Carl Weisinger’s World Street Nationals in Orlando, Fla., made a statement in Thursday night’s pre-race test session when he ran a 6.0001/242 and then came back and ran 6.01/244.

We’re trying to get the incrementals for you readers. These passes were made with a reported track temp of 45 degrees. The Agent believes that Rabon will easily run in the five-second zone this weekend. (Tim Marshall photo) [11/20/09]
The Agent’s Funny Car operative sent a note this morning saying that
we should look for a press release today from Don Schumacher Racing announcing
that Rahn Tobler will be leaving the Cruz Pedregon team and taking over the
tuning duties of DSR’s Jack Beckman-driven fuel coupe.
Former tuner Johnny West’s future with the DSR organization has not been determined. With Advance Auto deciding not to renew with Pedregon, this move is not a surprise. (Ron Lewis photo) [11/20/09]
