MARTINO MOVES TO TOP DRAGSTER

Tom and Ryan Martino of Youngstown, OH, will be leaving the 8.90 fraternity this season and move to Top Dragster. To help them make the 32-car field, the Martinos have turned to Ny-Trex Nitrous Oxide Systems of Longwood, FL. 

“With car counts expected to be at an all time high in 2008, Ny-Trex has provided us with a ‘safe’ combination that will put down strong numbers. With their outstanding product lines and extensive knowledge of the nitrous industry, we are confident we will not only be in the top half of the field, but have a consistent combination to win rounds,” said Ryan Martino. CARPENTER FIRED UP

Or flamed up, at least. Pro Nitrous racer Charles Carpenter sent along this rendering of the new paint scheme for his new '55 Shoebox fresh out of Terry Murphy's chassis shop. It has the traditional Carpenter yellow-and-purple look with a few licks of flame added for that special touch. The car hasn't made any test laps yet, but we hear it may be ready in time for the ADRL Spring Drags Apr. 25-26 at Tulsa Raceway Park.  (illustration by EddieHollon.com) [3/20/2008]
