Goodguys’ prez heads for Street Car Super Nationals

With the Goodguys 2008 event season now concluded, company President Marc Meadors will turn his attention to the dragstrip this weekend as he prepares to take his Red Line Oil-sponsored 1969 Pro Street Camaro into battle at the Street Car Super Nationals IV held at the Strip in Las Vegas. Meadors will make his competition debut in the Pro Street Class.
The ’69 Camaro was built by Tim McAmis and features a Brad Anderson 450 ci blown alcohol hemi. Early testing results have yielded 6.60 ET’s at over 210 mph. Crew chief Mike Leonard (of AA/Supercharged fame) is confident the team will do well. “We went to the track and did extensive clutch testing a few weeks ago. We’ll need to run 6.30s and 6.40s to get qualified well. Once you get qualified, anything can happen,” he said.
Meadors was a Top-10 winner in 1995 at Memphis in the NMCA/Hot Rod Magazine Fastest Street Car Shootout. He also qualified in Orlando the same year in Pro Street with a 540-inch nitrous big block Chevy.

New Force Mustangs ready for production
The Agent hears that Ford Motor Co. has signed off on returning with John Force Racing next year and the new Mustang Funny Car bodies will soon be in production from Jack Rousch. Evidently the agreement doesn’t depend on the (so far) rejected bailout of the Big Three automakers. And that’s a good thing. [11/20/2008]
Drag boat fans flock to Phoenix

Over 200 drag boats have pre-entered for the Lucas Oil IHBA World Finals this weekend at the lake at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz. As many as 40,000 spectators are expected to attend. The action is sure to be terrific as always with Hydros on nitro followed often by smoke on the water! Sounds like a party. We’ll have photos and results next week. (James Drew photo) [11/20/2008]
