RAY’S NEW PRO MOD GOES 6.07

TROXEL MOVES TO FUNNY CAR FOR ’08

Contrary to an earlier rumor, Mike Ashley confirms that he will drive full time next year. He will even have a new teammate as Melanie Troxel moves into the Funny Car ranks.

"We've got a really good program here, and after talking with my sponsor, Evan Knoll, we decided to add another car," said Mike Ashley, Gotham City Racing team owner.

"Melanie had expressed an interest in driving Funny Car, and after talking about it, we decided to bring her over," he said.

Troxel, who currently drives a Top Fuel Dragster sponsored by Evan Knoll and fielded by Morgan Lucas Racing, has already started cross over licensing runs in Mike Ashley's Torco Racing Fuels Dodge Charger R/T, and hopes to complete her licensing soon. [9/4/2007]

DHRA NAMES KNIGHT NEW PRESIDENT

Diesel Hot Rod Association CEO Eric McBride announced that Larry Knight has been chosen to lead the continued growth for the diesel-sanctioning body.

“DHRA has been in need of a President with a mixed experience background for a couple of years now” said McBride. “Larry has a drag racing, tractor pulling and television-production background, all of which were high on the list of experience needed for this position. We are excited and ready to get started; there is a lot to accomplish in a short time. 2008 will be our biggest year yet.”
