SOMETHING FUNNY ABOUT THE MARCH MEET
With the 50th March Meet just sixty days away the Agent checked with AAA Raceway at Famoso Track Manager Blake Bowser for a gauge of how pre-entries are running for the historic event. Bowser noted that their Nostalgia “Professional” entries are running slow with only ten pre-entries so far in Nitro Funny Car and less in AA/Fuel Dragster, but he’s received plenty of phone calls from nitro car owners. The sportsman categories already have nearly 300 entrants. Bowser stated that the 8-car Nitro Funny Car field would be re-evaluated if there were enough pre-entries to warrant the expansion to an additional 8-car “B field”. He also said that all Hot Rod Heritage Series events for funny car this year would be eight car fields at points earning races at tracks where the series raced.
“If we add a B field for Nitro Funny Cars at the March Meet it’ll be for a cash payout, there will be no series points handed out.” He added, “We are capping the total number of racecars at 500, so if you don’t have your entry in by the end of January - you will be left out.” (DRO File Photo) [1/8/2008]
