PROJECT 4-LINK REPORT

The DRO Project 4-Link, driven by DRO bracket editor, Jok Nicholson, last raced at the IHRA Mr. Gasket Pro-Am at Cordova Dragway. It qualified with a 7.87 at 169.00 mph.
Nicholson dialed in at 7.88, and ran 7.88 and 7.89 for wins. In the third round he met former Top Dragster World Champ Ricky Adkins, who nosed out Nicholson for the win. "At least I made him work for it with a .008 light," said Nicholson, "but he had the edge there with a .003, and he showed me why he is so tough."
In the Iron Man Challenge on Saturday night, Nicholson made it to the final five cars but in the fifth round he had a .021 light and then lost on a double break-out. In the Sunday Pro-Am race he again got down to the last five cars. "Missed the tree a little with a .016 to my opponent's .023, but for some reason I was too confident in the dial and hogged .023 stripe to go out by .004, and he was .01 over." A frustrated Nicholson added, "I've been doing this how long?" [6-20-2006]

According to the note, Buff licensed Monday after Chicago with a half-pass followed by a 4.61 317 full track lap and a last run of 4.64 at 325! The Agent believes these are the fastest license passes in NHRA history. Signers on his license included former World Champs Larry Dixon and Scott Kalitta. When Buff got his alcohol dragster license it was signed by World Champs Raymond Beadle and Billy Meyer. The source says that the Coghlans have no current plans to run the alcohol car. [6-20-2006]
